WordPress Training

Would you like the ability to maintain your Web site internally? We can design your Web site and provide you with the tools and training to maintain it. Some of our customers that have taken advantage of this option include: Pickering Laboratories, Bogart Engineering, Internet Research Group, Carpo’s Restaurant, Optimal Solutions Consulting, and nmLaser Products.

Content Management Systems: WordPress and Drupal

A content management system (CMS) creates a collaborative work environment where clients can manage and update their websites on their own through a user-friendly admin panel.  Image the cost savings from NOT having to go back to the designer for every small update.

Initially, CMS development was cost prohibitive for most small to medium businesses.  Now, through open source programs like WordPress, Drupal, and Joomla, a CMS Website can be extremely cost effective.  Image a restaurant that can update their menus on a weekly basis.  A car dealership that can refresh their inventory pages every day — every hour!  Any business that needs to update pages on a consistent basis should investigate CMS.

We can create your CMS Website using pre-developed or custom templates.  Although creating custom templates is typically more expensive than a traditional Website, long-term cost savings quickly offset the initial startup costs!

eCommerce

Ready to sell your products online?  Depending on your needs, we can offer a number of off-the-shelf and custom solutions that can meet or exceed all of your current and future business needs.

Mobile Visibility

With global mobile phone use at an all time high, there has been a surge of interest in developing Websites that are smartphone friendly.  If you have an existing Website (pre-2014), it may only be optimized for larger screen displays. Accessing your Web pages on a smartphones may require users to use the ol’ finger pinch and expand technique to view your pages.

If your site caters to a large audience of smartphone users, we can help you create mobile friendly content that mirrors your entire Website or just a few select pages.  For example, if you own a restaurant and don’t have the budget to build a responsive website, it may make sense to create only a handful of smartphone friendly pages such as your home, contact, and menu pages.

Another reason to become more mobile friendly is Google’s smartphone friendly mandate.

Database Development

For Websites requiring large page counts and/or many product options, an intelligent database design and development is a very good idea.  Our programmers expertise fall into two database categories: 1) ASP/SQL for large enterprise level applications, and 2) PHP/MySQL for small to medium business applications.

Typical Design Process and Workflow

What makes us different from other design firms?  We listen to our customers.  We enjoy learning about their businesses.  And together, we establish a process that will meet their business objectives.

Sample Design Process:

  • Interview client to establish current and future business objectives and budget
  • Determine the customer’s audience/market
  • Review the customer’s competition
  • Develop a flowchart that breaks out specific sections, page count, advanced features and forms.
  • Create a project “Mood Board”.  This is a preliminary design tool to help establish potential styles, fonts, colors, and images that will make up the look and feel of the Website.
  • Create/format home and internal page comps
  • Refine selected comps and convert to HTML/CSS compliant templates
  • Populate Web pages
  • Add meta tag information (title, description, keywords) for search engine optimization.
  • Post Website
  • Evaluate the Website’s performance.
